Mreeuh in the House
by
In preparation for our “FULL HOUSE” event each day we will bring you exclusive content and behind the scenes video counting down to the show Friday at Gypsy Hut.
First up, we sat down with Mreeuh Chang an upcoming artist out of the ATL who will be doing live painting as part of FULL HOUSE.
How would you describe you art? – I consider every piece to be a visual response to my own version of reality. Alot of it comes out looking like shit, but they all garner a great deal of emotion… Really symbolic.
What influences you as a person? – People watching, public transit, and sleep deprivation.
Tell me the first thing that comes to your mind.
Music - Bassline in D Minor
Love - Damn I gotta call my man back.
Fruit - Avocodo. Im addicted to them. Ill eat them straight from the skin with a spoon!
Bob Saget - Some old simpsons episode. “SAGET!”
Twitter - Online business conference to a hotel with paper thin walls.
How are you aTYPICAL? - Cuz I failed a personality test cuz every type matched equally! True story!
How did you learn to paint? - After work, I walked down peters street to this spot City of Ink. I was guided by Miya Bailey and Tuki Carter. My young tail really had no business being there plus I always left paint on the floor. Being around artists helped me gravitate towards my own thoughts and communicate them visually. The worlds a trap, everything requires you to assimilate. Thats why the artist is not a popular role, and never should be. The best way for me to reverse that effect was to surround myself with people who are constantly manipulating mediums. Im still detoxing.
How does ATL differ from the Nati? - You mean art scene, party scene, or music scene?
Youth culture in general. – The old people run this city, so the youth have a more rebellious attitude and more creativity. But when you dance at a club in ATL, that’s called networking. Cincinnati needs to get off that dope. Atlanta needs to get off the internet.
Where do you see yourself in five years? – AHHH! Thats such a hard question to answer cuz theres so much to learn. I guess ill start with having more control over my impulses and taking the people that care about me more seriously. Too mushy? Fuck it.
Any shoutouts? - Shoutout to MARTA, Urban Fusion, LoveHate Music, Campbell High, Chilly-O, Fadia Kader
